Since the beginning of her career
in 1970, Sandra Wasko-Flood has enjoyed many symbols and
cosmologies, the layering of meanings and media, the fusing
of opposites. Chronologically, her work divides into eleven
series starting with "Totems,"
followed by "Goddesses,"
"Cycles"
(six altogether), "Spirals,"
and "Labyrinths."
Her colorful expressionistic style features the figure:
animals ("Totems"), icons ("Goddesses"),
people and mummies (from her travels), integrated into nature
"Cycles" and the cosmos ("Spirals" and
"Labyrinths.") Her media has moved from painting
to photos to prints to fabric to sculpture to large interactive
art installations.
